When he was 12 years old John, better known as Quad, got to experience the magnitude of Surf Hatteras as a camper, and returned for a total of 10 Surf Hatteras camp weeks. He has surfed for most of his life, spending much of his younger summers in Virginia Beach with his grandparents, and getting to surf a few times off the pacific coast of Mexico. However, it was not until he came to SH that he truly fell in love with surfing. Now Quad spends most of his off-season studying Coastal Engineering and Spanish at UNC Wilmington (GO HAWKS), hanging out with his best friend Cole Hutchinson, and surfing whenever he gets the chance. Although the fall, winter, and spring all bring their own joys, each year Quad looks forward to heading back to the magical place of SH where he will be coming back for his 3rd summer as a surf instructor this year. He truly thinks that nothing can compare to the beauty and power of the ocean and the exciting and joyful nature of the SH schedule and staff. He hopes to give campers the time of their lives this summer!
