“The East Coast’s Most Consistent Beachbreak” Says Surfline

Surfline.com, the worldwide leader in online surf reports and surf forecasting, recently published a front page article with the following title:

For a surfer, there’s nothing worse than running excitedly down to the beach with all your gear, only to be greeted by an ocean that looks like a lake.  If you surf anywhere on the East Coast, you’ve probably experienced this way too many times, especially in the summer.  And this is one of the many reasons we believe Hatteras Island is such an ideal location for a surf camp.  When no one else around us is getting waves, we are. In the last three years, we haven’t had a single day of camp when we couldn’t go surfing!

In June and July in particular, we tend to get some of the most consistent surf on the East Coast during the safest, most laid back time of year.  (So no need to be intimidated by the photos of massive Fall & Winter waves you may have seen!) Summertime conditions tend to be extremely accessible to beginning surfers and also fun – and often times quite challenging – for our most advanced surfers.  Bottom line, if you’re interested in surfing on the East Coast, this is where you want to be.

About Our New Blog

We are thrilled to unveil our brand new blog and we hope you enjoy it! The purpose of this blog is threefold:

1) To keep your family and friends up-to-date while you’re at camp. While you’re here with us in the summer, they’ll be able to see a little bit of what we’re up to every day, and best of all, they’ll get to view and download pictures of you RIPPING! And then when you go home, the photos will still be right here on our blog so you can show them off to all your friends (like you know you will).

2) To keep in touch with all our wonderful Surf Hatteras campers in the off season. When we’re not with you, we miss you!  So we want to keep you updated on our lives, and we want to hear about your lives as well.  You can leave a comment any time.

3) To make sure you miss us when you’re gone! That’s right. We’re going to post tons of great pics and videos of PERFECT SURF in the Outer Banks to keep you drooling all through the off season, counting the days until you return to camp!  I know it’s mean, but hopefully it will be entertaining as well.

Anyway, hope you all enjoy the new blog.  Let us know what you think!   — Ross
